Dr. Rajendra Prasad Choubey is the director of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences, Port Blair. He passed his MBBS (1974) from KGMC,Lucknow. He did his MS in General Surgery (1984) from AFMC, Pune and Post Doctoral Training in GI Surgery (1990-92) from AIIMS , New Delhi.He was a visiting fellow of Liver Transplantation Centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK.
He has served in the Armed Forces Medical Services for 35 years in various capacities and was instrumental in establishing the first and the only Liver Translplant Programme in Armed Forces at the Army Hospital (R&R) , New Delhi. He was conferred Vishist Seva Medal for Meritorious Service by the President ofIndia , Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and GOC in C Western Command, Commendation Card. He has published in several International and National Journals. He is a member of Assocation of Surgeons of India, Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, Association of Armed Forces Surgeons of India and Indian Chapter of International Association of HPB Surgery.
